UAP issues statement on January 2021 ALE

January 15, 2021 | By: UAP Keeping You Posted

The UAP together with the Council of Deans and Heads of Architecture Schools in the Philippines (CODHASP), in the interest of safety and well-being of our UAP community and our future architects, has reiterated its previous position concerning the rescheduling of the January 29 and 31, 2021 licensure examination for Architects.

The basis for this position is that the majority of the more than 2000 licensure examination takers take their exam in Metro Manila which was declared to be under general community quarantine (GCQ), the third strictest of 4 lockdown levels, until January 31, 2021, by President Rodrigo Duterte.

This leadership would like to reiterate, however, that the final decision whether to push through with the Licensure Examination for Architects or not is exclusive to the Professional Regulatory Board of Architecture as mandated by Republic Act 9266 (Article II, Section 7). UAP and its graduate arm, the UAP Graduate Auxiliary do not have the authority and the power to decide on such matters.

We are all trying to make sense of this unprecedented situation and we are making these sacrifices for the greater good, and to protect the most vulnerable among us. And throughout these trying times, we have looked to our values—values of community, of inclusion, of social responsibility, and accountability to each other—to guide our decision-making.

In the meantime, we will get through this by working together, looking out for each other, and lifting each other up.

Thank you for your understanding.
