The Office of the National President recently issued Memo Circular enjoining all UAP Chapters to undertake activities commemorating the World Architecture Day celebration on October 2, 2017.
With the theme “Climate Change Actions”, this year's celebration aims to “support every initiative following the 2015 Paris Climate Change Agreement to combat the impact of climate change on the environment and humanity. It calls upon all architects and architecture organizations in the world to mobilize efforts to respond to these initiatives”. The World Architecture Day is held in conjunction with the United Nations World Habitat Day, a day reserved annually by the United Nations to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat and the basic right to adequate shelter for all.
The Committee on World Architecture Day, as the lead organizer of the event, is set to conduct a Photography Contest that is open to all professional architects and architecture students. All participants are required to send their entries that should feature the best practices of sustainability and care for the environment which will help in combating climate change and depict the aforementioned Local UAP World Architecture Day Theme.
Please refer to the Memo Circular for more details and guidance.
All chapters are also requested to send the photo documentation and/ or video of your activities and how you and your chapter celebrated WAD 2017 through email at firstname.lastname@example.org on or before October 10, 2017 from which the WAD Committee shall make a video presentation and photo collage to be presented and exhibited in the forthcoming UAP events (Nationwide Architecture Week celebration, Joint Area Assembly, National Convention, etc.).
