In keeping with measures being taken around the world to slow the spread of the coronavirus, the APEC Architects Project National Monitoring Committee of the Philippines has taken the decision to postpone the International Conference of Architects (ICA) and the APEC Architect Project 9th Central Council Meeting.

The move comes in response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The events were originally set to take place in the Philippines from 7 - 11 September 2020.

As Council Secretariat of the APEC Architects Project (Year 2019 and 2020), the Philippines serves as the hosts for the council meeting this year. Parallel to this meeting will be the two-day International Conference of Architects which aims to bring together leading architects in the Asian region to exchange and share their experiences and research results about all aspects of architecture.

"Holding such a gathering is for now incompatible with efforts to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Moving it to a later date, when we hope the pandemic will be under control, will provide us with the opportunity to focus all our efforts on contributing to the massive global recovery effort required in its aftermath", stressed UAP National President Arch. Benjamin K. Panganiban, Jr., member of the Philippine Monitoring Committee and meeting convenor.
