WAD 2017 Logo Design Contest winners

The United Architects of the Philippines through the Committee on World Architecture Day celebration announced the winners of the WAD 2017 Logo Design Contest winners.

The entry of Mr. Kelvin D. Magno, a 3rd year architecture student of University of Santo Tomas was proclaimed the Grand Prize Winner. Mr. Magno`s logo’s concept relating to the theme “Luntiang Gusali at Kapaligiran” is sustainability itself. The logo’s goal is to complement the existing WAD logo and create a lasting image in the viewer’s mind. The WAD’s logo forms a hidden hexagon and embodies a professional modern look. The hexagon shape of the WAD logo can extend to a triangular shape that has a characteristics of being stable and active. The three portions of the triangle will house the elements depicting “Luntiang Gusali at Kapaligiran”. The leaves and building silhouettes combined creates a simple message which is greening our built environment. Having said that, the logo successfully depicts the theme and created a timeless, sustainable logo. 

Meanwhile, the entry of Mr. Marc Oneal N. Guiab, a 3rd year architecture student of Lyceum Northwestern University (Dagupan City, Pangasinan) emerged as 2nd Place winner, while Ms. Irah Jane C. Leyson`s entry of Iloilo Science and Technology University (La Paz Iloilo) was proclaimed 3rd Place Winner. 

The Committee is enjoining all Chapters and concerned national and local officers to incorporate the said logo (Grand Prize Winner) in all WAD 2017 posters, announcements, certificates, etc.
