UAP to Celebrate World Day of Architecture 2015

Pursuant to its commitment to promote architecture as a product and as a profession, and to advocate new trends in the practice of the profession with social responsiveness as a major consideration; and in accordance with decision taken by the International Union of Architects (UIA) Assembly in 1996, the United Architects of the Philippines will be celebrating the 2015 World Architecture Day on October 5, 2015 with the theme "Architecture, Building, Climate Commitments and Solutions".

According to the UIA Statements, "as the world's national governments approach COP 21, the international climate treaty negotiations taking place later this year, the UIA will join with national and regional architecture organizations to highlight the essential role of architecture, design and town planning in reducing associated greenhouse gas emissions".

UIA members like UAP, working bodies and partners will mobilize on October to promote actions and solutions that apply the enormous power of architecture and urban design in coping with global climate change, one of the greatest challenges of our time.

To mark the occasion, the Office of the National President recently issued a Memo Circular encouraging all Chapter Presidents to celebrate this day by conducting your monthly GMM or other Meeting/s on the same date.

Likewise, the Circular already directed Chapter Officers to coordinate with their respective local government units in promoting the celebration of the World Day of Architecture and to conduct activities through their chapter that they may deem appropriate for the celebration such as motorcades, forums, exhibits, workshops, medical/dental missions and other activities related to WAD 2015

The Commission on Governmental and External Affairs through its Committee on World Architecture Day is tasked to lead the celebration and provide assistance to UAP Districts and Chapters in terms of planning and coordination. The Circular also encourages Chapter President to provide the Committee of their activities and necessary documentations/reports regarding this event.
